Sharon Oberst DeFala, Esq.
Divorce Attorney, Mediator, & Holistic Professional
“Divorce is a transition, not an obituary.” This belief has guided my practice since 1992. I believe that while a legal decree marks the end of a marriage, it should also serve as the foundation for a healthy, purposeful new beginning.
As the founder of Oberst DeFala Law, PC, I have spent over three decades helping individuals and families across Fairfield County navigate the complexities of life-cycle events. My approach is rooted in the philosophy that divorce is a holistic experience—it affects your finances, your family dynamics, and your physical and emotional well-being.
A Holistic Approach to the Law
I am more than a family law attorney; I am a mediator, a Certified Divorce Specialist (CDS™), and a Reiki Master. This unique combination allows me to offer support that honors the whole person. Whether I am guiding a high-net-worth family through a discreet, cost-effective resolution or helping co-parents establish a peaceful foundation for their children, my goal is to minimize the "trenches" and maximize the possibility for peace.
By integrating traditional legal skill with vetted healing practices and a network of financial and mental health professionals, I help my clients move forward with greater clarity and intention.
Areas of Expertise
● Family & Divorce Law: Including pre- and post-nuptial agreements, custody, and support.
● Divorce Mediation: Facilitating non-adversarial solutions that preserve dignity and resources.
● Holistic Divorce: A 360-degree view of the transition to ensure emotional and physical grounding.
● Estate Planning: Protecting your legacy and providing the greatest gift to your loved ones—certainty.
● Small Business Law: Advising solo practitioners and small corporations on asset protection and lucrative growth.
Education & Community
A lifelong resident of Fairfield County, I followed in the footsteps of my father, Gary Oberst, joining the practice after graduating from Lewis & Clark Northwestern School of Law. My
commitment to my neighbors extends beyond the office; I have served as Chair of the Jewish Federation of Greater Fairfield County and past president of Congregation Beth El in Norwalk.
When I am not advocating for my clients, I am usually found enjoying my husband and children’s musical and theatrical performances or spending time with my extended family.
I look forward to serving you. [Request a Consultation] — [Add Sharon as a Preferred Source on Google]
